Christmas is a such a cheery time of year. Its full of color and things like adorable elves and chubby cheek Santas. If you prefer the dark side, I’m sure all of that makes you just a little bit sick.

But that’s not a reason to not to decorate. There are plenty of design ideas that will help make Christmas yours. Here are some to consider.

Black Christmas Trees

Christmas trees come in a variety of colors, and that includes black. Once you get a black tree, there’s really no wrong way to decorate it when it comes to producing a goth look. But that doesn’t mean you can’t go from there to give it an even spookier appearance.

Add ornaments like medieval dragons, Morticia- like she-elves, Nightmare Before Christmas Characters and the like. Keep away from lights and garlands that are too colorful opting instead for silver, white, or even purple and blue. Top the tree with an evil looking angel to complete the aesthetic.

Goth Wreaths

Wreaths already have a great goth look and it’s easy to make them even more evil. Add elements like skulls, red and black roses and dark red velvet ribbons. The wreaths themselves can be black as well, to match your tree of course.

Black Table Setting

It’s not unusual for people to do a black table setting for Christmas. Many find it upscale and luxurious. You can make a black look unique by giving it a gothic edge.

Black tablecloths can be brightened up by a festive arrangement of ornamental balls in a silver bowl. Candlelight is another great way to do goth chic. Flowers of any color will be a terrific addition. Of course, you could make a centerpiece of skulls and bones, but maybe not while we’re eating??

Christmas Haunted House Exterior

You can make your house look spooky from the outside as well. One idea is to hang Christmas lights randomly throughout your yard to give your exterior an abandoned look. Evil Santas and troll like elves will enhance the appeal.

Goth Centerpieces

Centerpieces can be spread throughout the home to infuse the goth Christmas spirit throughout the interior. An evil looking branch like tree will work well. If you have a skull lying around (and if you’re goth you probably do) put a Santa hat on it. Dried flowers can further add to the spooky appeal.

Christmas maybe too cheery for most goths. The ideas in this article will help you decorate in a style that appeals to you. How do you like to scare your guests during the holiday season?
